Bus Schedule Will Be Significantly Changed on March 27

Due to a loss of state funding, Port Authority is reducing service by 15 percent effective March 27. The agency expects to lose 13,000 riders due to the cuts and. The agency will eliminate 270 positions and expects about 180 of those as layoffs. The Harmar operating garage will close.

In fact, the most of current routes will be eliminated or changed. Franklin Park, Glassport, Groveton, Hampton, Homeville, Indiana, Liberty, Marshall, Natrona, Port Vue, Wall and White Oak neighborhoods will lose the total service. Others will face loss of weekend service or reduction of some early or late weekday service. The agency said that other routes will be increased to cover areas that may lose service.
