London To Tokyo Under 3 Hours, 3000MPH Aircraft, ZEHST

- London to Istanbul : 30 minutes
- London to East Coast of US: 1 hour
- London to Tokyo: 2 hours and 20 minutes
- London to Sydney: 3 and Half hours

EADS, the owner of aircraft maker Airbus, has given a further glimpse of the future of commercial high speed travel at the Paris Air Show, outlining a hypersonic jet that could take travellers from Paris to Tokyo in two hours and 20 minutes.

The company is keen to stress that the plane isn’t a new Concorde, despite looking oddly familiar, but rather a whole new vision of business travel. And yes, there’ll no doubt be a business price-tag attached to the aircraft seats sold.

The plane should be able to fit between 50 to 100 seats, but the configuration will not be up to airlines to decide–rather what the technology permits. Crucially, it’s still a drawing board concept at this stage.

But, we should wait 40 years to take the dream-airplane. The company expects to have a demo in place by 2020 and have aircraft ready for commercial use in 2050. Pray for longevity.
