A Little Clever Sea Lion in Pittsburgh Zoo

Last week, I went to Pittsburgh Zoo with my 14 months old daughter. She loves to see sea lions and polar bears who are superstars of the zoo. They are perky in spite of cold weather.

It's feeding time when we arrived at the pond sea lions swam. There was a little one among five sea lions. The keeper threw small fishes to them and the swallowed fishes immediately. By the way, the little kid didn't swallow it, but just held it with his moth. And he swam and climbed the rock in center of the pond. Then, he started to play a show. Throwing, catching, and shaking the fish.

Other sea lions were watching the show and waiting the time he drops the fish. They were still hungry. But, the kid played very well. He seems an experts on that kinds of playing. We really enjoyed it and cheered for him. He was our superstar!

However, even homer sometimes nods!

The little star did drop the fish and it fell into pond. The starving adults moved immediately to get the fish. The little star also dived into the water quickly. Few seconds later...

The little star came back! He climbed the rock in a stately manner. His mouth held the fish again. What a strong! What a clever! Finally he swallowed the fish and the hungry adults just seeing it with envious eyes.

He received an ovation from us, from my daughter. She watched the show from beginning to end, definitely. The show was surprising and the concentration of a 14 months old girl was surprising too.

Have you eve seen such a little clever sea lion?
